Analysis: Fez - The Game That Reminds You How Much Fun It Was Being a Child

Fez is an independent title that was released in 2012 for Xbox 360, but also came to PC a few weeks ago. This is a platform game that pays tribute to classics like Mario Bros. and Metroid, while introducing new mechanics. No matter the age, gender, or ability to control, this is an experience that everyone should try at least once.

Gomez You control a character who looks like he’s made of marshmellow living in a world in 2 dimensions. Until one day he receives the power of a FEZ, this traditional Turkish hat allows you to change the perspective of your world in 3D. With this core mechanics have to turn and switch planes to advance levels.

The objective of the game is to collect the pieces of nature that are scattered around this world full of color. Many will be easy to find, but most are hidden and require solving ingenious puzzles.

Fez

There are no magical powers, or supernatural abilities. All puzzles are solved just jumping from side to side and rotate your view of the world. For more boring than it sounds I assure you is one of the most rewarding experiences you will play this year. Clues to solve more complex puzzles ranging from the use of vibration control to decode QR codes.

FEZ is a constant treasure hunt.

The graphics are a tribute to the era of 8-bits. Each stage is filled with attractive details, some of which are clues to solve new puzzles. Music is also one of the nicest. Some melodies are so catchy I ended up humming in the shower.

Fez took nearly 5 years of development, with very few people sometimes just 2 teams. The story of its creator Phil Fish deserved to be part of Indie Game the Movie, a documentary that focuses on the development of independent games also recommend.

It will take about 10 hours to finish the game for the first time, but to find all the pieces of cubes and decipher the secret language of symbols that will guarantee you playing for several weeks.

Often the game reminds us why we like to play both games.

Pros:

  • Exploring a new world.

  • Clever puzzle using the central mechanics.

  • Hundreds of secrets.

  • Extraordinary amount of detail in the art.

  • Excellent soundtrack.

  • Buenos controls.

  • Quite content.

  • Bring out your inner child.

Cons:

  • Some puzzles are very, very difficult.

  • Some technical problems.

Verdict:

Not recommending Fez parraré the world. That satisfaction of constantly discovering new things, opening secret doors and exploring unknown worlds is something few modern titles can offer. Reminds us of a time when simple things could be more fun, not only in games but in our lives. Fez makes you agree with their innocence and purity much fun it was being a child.

Now available for PC and Xbox 360 only $10.
